This tool is made just for it and provides the needed clearance. This tool is almost a must-have for the Pontiac Solstice GXP (2.0 liter turbo). Due to the location of the cap, a standard deep well socket won't make a full turn (at least the one I had) which can damage the plastic cap.
You will either struggle or damage the top of your filter cap not using the right tool such as this Lisle tool for Ecotech motors. The bonus is that it makes life so much easier.RM
Because of how tight the space is (referring to the HHR) I would recommend getting a couple extensions for your ratchet. It paid for itself the first time I used it with the money I saved vs. taking it to a shop to get the oil changed. This oil filter wrench works perfect for my Chevy HHR. With two extension pieces my ratchet (and my hand) were above the engine itself when unscrewing the oil filter cap. Then I found this wrench. When I first bought the car I could not find a proper tool to take the oil filter cap off. Nothing more to say, other than it fits perfectly and does the job as advertised.
This has made it significatly easier to remove and replace the oil filter cap durring oil changes. This is an adapter for use with a socket set to aid in removing oil filter caps for Gm 2.2L engines. This is made of metal with adaquate thickness that provides a snug fit over oil cap to prevent rounding the corners of the cap.
This is the best way to remove the oil filter from a 2008 Saturn Vue 4 cyl engine. This wrench worked perfectly.
